The enigmatic & eccentric L.L. Hartley

What’s the difference between crazy and eccentric? The answer is simple… MONEY! No one calls a rich person crazy. They are merely called eccentric. A poor person is called crazy and gets locked away. Eccentric is a much nicer word. So, L.L. Hartley prefers to be called eccentric even though there is a huge deficit of monetary funds.

How did L.L. come to be this way? Read on and you will know.

L.L. was born in a very small town in Eastern Oregon on Wed. Oct. 20th. 1965 at 9:08 a.m. to a biological (and multiple drug addict) mother and a father that was not biological. For the most part, the first three years of L.L.’s life would be spent in the care of a grand-mother. When a grand-father died the mother took L.L. and the new half-brother-sibling to Seattle, Washington leaving behind husband #3.

The move to Seattle was only the beginning of the suffering and endurance that L.L. would have to go through to get to adult-hood. It was the beginning of child sex abuse, physical, verbal and emotional abuse. Most of all done by the hand of the 4th. step-father (who was an alcoholic and was addicted to pain medications) as well as having to contend with his male relatives (such as his father, one of his brothers and a nephew of his). It would be those events (caused by them as well as the mother) that would later be cause to the diagnosis of Post-Traumatic-Stress-Disorder and depression for L.L. Meanwhile. L.L. resided there in Seattle until 1978 shortly after the birth of a half-sister-sibling.

In the mid-winter of 1978 there was a move to Oregon. L.L. is now a teenager and holds out hope that a real biological father will come to the rescue. There would be more years of even harsher abuses. Although the sex abuse was no longer present concerning hard-core physical contact, there still was a sick demand from the 4th. evil step-father. L.L. would eventually end up having to pull down the pants and underwear only to be beaten with a doubled-over leather belt. What kind of sick fuck requires their step-child to drop not only their pants but their underwear as well? When L.L. was 13 this asshole beat L.L. to the point that blood was drawn! I can tell you. A sick fuck that gets off on seeing the private parts of a person (an actual human being that has feelings) that isn't even old enough to consent to anything is truly a SICK FUCK! The pulling down of pants and underwear continued 'til L.L. was 16 & 1/2.

In high school, gym class proved to be not only a challenge but an embarrassment for L.L. because of the bruises. L.L. was an un-attractive young person that feared, loathed and hated jr. high and high school. The teasing was relentless with name calling and even food thrown at L.L. for no apparent reason during lunch time only to get stuck in the hair and on the clothes. It is no wonder that L.L. could relate so easily to Sissy Spacek’s character in the movie “Carrie” or even the kids of today that take guns to school and shoot their bullies.

During those school years L.L. would quietly dive into theater and choir. There were few friends and L.L. (even to this day) cherishes those that were there back then to brighten the day. Because of them L.L. is now the type of best-friend that you will ever have and will give you the shirt off of their back even though they don’t have a spare.

In the latter part of high school L.L. found some peace of mind when the evil step-father and mother separated and eventually divorced. L.L. also found a mate and the missing piece of the familial puzzle. The biological father. For the last 30 years L.L. has come to have a wonderfully growing working relationship with the biological father.

A year after high school L.L. became a parent. Two years later another new bundle would arrive and L.L. would marry the mate. L.L. was very happy and content until years later when the marriage would fall apart and depression would blanket L.L.’s heart, mind and soul. L.L. then descended into a dark world and scary occupations just to keep the head above water as a single parent with no child support or alimony. Even to this day (17 years after the divorce) L.L. is still trying hard to please the ex-mate in the hopes of re-marriage. L.L. hasn’t even had a date since 1996.

Fast forward those 17 years and L.L. has now begun to come to terms with many horrific events with the help of on-going therapy, has reconnected with long lost wonderful friends and has regained some of the creativity that once freely flowed from the mind. L.L. is now working on becoming a novelist by not only writing about the struggles of P.T.S.D. and depression but to also write about “some” of the events in a comical manner to try and cope as well as to learn to put those events into a new light.

With the creativity now beginning to flow through the mind, L.L. is sure to write that science fiction series. Granted it’s the P.T.S.D. and depression that make L.L. certifiably crazy but it is THAT creativity that makes L.L. eccentric.
